Hisaei “Chuck” ITO
Hisaei “Chuck” ITO is a Professor of Law at the Chuo University, where he teaches Commercial Law, Law of Negotiable Instruments, Law of Payments, Comparative Business Law (taught in English), Corporate Law, and Asian Business Law. As an Adjunct, he has ever taught the courses ”Dispute Resolution in Business Corporation” for foreign students at the Graduate School of Business, Rikkyo University in 2014 – 2017, and “Special Lecture on Financial and Capital Market Law” at the Graduate School of Law at Waseda University in 2011 – 2014.
Professor Ito has been appointed as a member of the Examination Committee for CPA (2000-2001), a member of Academic Advisory Board of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law at the University of Hong Kong (2008 – present), a member of the Accreditation Committee or Law Schools at the Japan Federation of Bar Association (2012 – 2019), a member of the Executive Board at the japan Association of Private Law (2016 – 2020), and the director of the Institute of Comparative Law in Japan at Chuo University (2014. – 2020).
Due to his strong interest in comparative studies, he has held a variety of visiting positions at Tulane University School of Law (2018), Georgetown University Law Center (2014), Duke University School of Law (2011, 2003), the University of Hong Kong (2002), and the Australian National University (1997).
